San Diego Comic Con came and went in a flash, just as it does every year but it always leaves us with some great teasers to give us something to look forward to!

We’ve already seen movies for The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, Thor and now with the release of Joe Johnston‘s Captain America: The First Avenger, we can finally start looking forward to The Avengers movie directed by none other than Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Serenity)

At Comic-con this past weekend they unveiled the first official poster for The Avengers!!

A Close-Up Look at Captain America’s Avengers Uniform!

July 25, 2011

Since Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers is slated to release in the Spring of 2012, they are already in the middle of production for the Marvel superhero epic!

This weekend at the San Diego Comic-Con, they had on display the new uniform that will be worn by Captain America himself! It is an updated and modernized version of what we will see in Joe Johnson‘s Captain America: The First Avenger since that film is set in the early 1940s.

Click any of the images below to get a closer look at Cap’s Avengers uniform!

The Avengers: Captain America Full Avengers Uniform

Personally, I think this is one hell of a costume. It is sleek, modern and yet still represents the classic feel of Captain America with his trademark shield, wings and patriotic colours. I have all the faith in the world in Joss Whedon to pull off this film!

The Avengers is slated to be released May 4th, 2012!! It will feature an all-star cast of Robert Downey Jr (Iron Man), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (The Kids Are All Right), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Scarlett Johansson (The Prestige).

[NEW] Trailer: Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol

June 28, 2011

I think Tom Cruise is as big of a crazy as the next guy,
but Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol looks pretty badass…

I might even break my Tom Cruise movie boycott for this one. I think it might have been around the time he went a little nuts on the national television, jumping on sofas and what not but it’s been quite a few years since I chose to watch one of his films. Although, I’m not counting Tropic Thunder because frankly, I didn’t even realize it was him until part way through the movie haha. He was pretty outstanding.

Tom Cruise doing his crazy dance..

Prior to the release of this new trailer for Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol (the name alone has peaked my interest…), I hadn’t heard much about this at all aside from the fact that they were making yet another Mission: Impossible but as a first impression, I must say it looks like a pretty quality action flick. They’ve stacked up a pretty strong cast as well with Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton) and Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz), although yes,  it may take a moment or two to get over the fact that Simon Pegg is in a Mission: Impossible but from what I’ve gauged, he fits his tech agent role very well with glimpses of his comic timing.

I can’t say for sure whether this installment of Mission: Impossible will be great or not..afterall, Tom Cruise has gotten a lot crazier since the original film in 1996 but we shall see. Regardless, I am looking forward to seeing more of these trailers. It is set to be released on December 16th, 2011.

What’s your first impression?

The Town (2010)

July 19, 2010

Who would’ve thought Ben Affleck still had another one in him?? Affleck is taking another stab at writing and directing which in my opinion are much stronger than his onscreen performances. He wrote the screenplay for the 2007 crime drama, Gone Baby Gone which starred his younger brother Casey ‘Mumbles’ Affleck and you all know about the film that he co-wrote with Matt Damon while they were in college. A little film called, Good Will Hunting which ended up winning the two an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1997.

Yes I know, its yet another Ben Affleck movie set in Boston but the film carries a strong cast with the likes of John Hamm (Mad Men), Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) and Rebecca Hall (Vicky Cristina Barcelona). I think the premise is quite interesting and based off the trailer, it looks like its executed pretty well. Affleck plays a bank thief who after pulling off a dangerous heist falls for the bank’s manager played by Rebecca Hall and so throughout the film he struggles to maneuver his life around both his relationship whilst evading the FBI team who are hot on their tracks.

I think it could turn out to be a pretty solid film. The track record for his screenwriting and directing are very exceptional so I’m going to be putting this on my “to watch” list.

The Town comes out in theatres on September 10th, 2010. Will you watch it?
